Jets hopeful QB Sanchez will be ready to go for June minicamp

The Jets are being cautious with quarterback Mark Sanchez, and reports say that the team is taking it easy with the QB after offseason knee surgery, but hope he’ll be back for the start of their June minicamp:

Jets coach Rex Ryan hopes QB Mark Sanchez, recovering from offseason knee surgery, will be able to participate in the team’s June minicamp.

Sanchez had a procedure on his left knee Feb. 17 to repair the patella ligament. He said two weeks ago that he hoped to be running sometime around mid-May and didn’t rule out participating in the June 14-16 minicamp.

“It’s really going to be disappointing to him if he can’t come back and do some of those minicamps or OTAs or whatever,” Ryan said. “I’d love to see him do that last minicamp, if at all possible.” Whether he practices in minicamp, Sanchez has said he will be ready when training camp begins Aug. 2.
