As I saddle behind my trust desk with about 20 minutes to go until the start of second round, here’s the latest that needs to be passed along:
- Tim Booth of the Associated Press filed an article regarding Seattle left tackle Walter Jones. According to the piece, head coach Pete Carroll says that an announcement will be made next Thursday regarding the all-pro’s retirement.
- Last night right before I called it a night, I filed a quick-hit piece regarding Seattle’s needs entering the second round. Among the list of positions and players I listed were several quality big-size wide receivers. Well, thanks to the new format of the Draft, teams have had a night to regroup after the first 32 picks and as today’s gone on I’ve heard quarterback Jimmy Clausen’s name linked to Seattle’s pick at 60 more and more. According to the Twitter of Greg Bedard (of the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel), Seattle could in fact call the former Fighting Irish’s name in the second round because, if it weren’t for Earl Thomas’ availability at 14th overall, Clausen could possibly have becoem a Seahawk then and there.
