Three way deal sends LB Sims to the Eagles, TE Scheffler to Detroit

The Eagles have made a trade to help try and fill the void they’ve had at linebackers. They’ve made a three-way trade with the Lions and Broncos. Philadelphia gets Ernie Sims from the Lions, the Broncos send tight end Tony Scheffler to Detriot, and Denver gets a fifth round draft pick from the Eagles.  Sims has had 100+ tackles for the Lions in 2006, 2007, and 2008. In 2009, he only recorded 49 tackles.

The Eagles sent a fifth-round pick (137th overall) to Denver. The seventh-rounder the Lions received is the 220th overall pick. They now have four seventh-round picks in the draft, to be held Thursday through Saturday.Scheffler, 27, played at Western Michigan, and when reached by the Denver Post this morning, he answered by saying: “Restore the roar!”

“It’s going to be surreal walking into that locker room and putting on those clothes for the first time,” Scheffler told the Post.
