San Francisco the best place for QB Donovan McNabb

Tweeted this earlier, but I’m going to make the case of Donovan McNabb to be traded to the 49ers (yes, yes, I know this isn’t exactly Giants related, but it is NFC East related).

The 49ers have two first round picks–13 and 17. With the Eagles wanting a top pick, the 49ers can afford to get rid of one. The 49ers already have significant offensive threats. Frank Gore at running back. Michael Crabtree at wide receiver. Vernon Davis at tight end. With a top QB like McNabb, their offense will be at the top of the league.

The Niners have always had quarterback trouble since Jeff Garcia left. McNabb fills that need. Combine that with a defense led by Patrick Willis and you have a playoff team. You can still use that other first round pick to fill a need at safety or on the offensive line.

I still don’t get the reasoning for trading McNabb, but if he is to go, the Niners are the best place for him.

  1. JRL says:

It would be good for both, but SF trade not gonna happen. Not for 1st round, the most is likely 3rd at this point. My Niners are defiant and yes stupid, to hang on to Alex Smith. They are bound and determined to prove to world Smith is not as bad as Leaf, Couch or Shuler was. They probably will get 1 or 2 more average years out of him. Proof to themselves he was not a Ryan Leaf. They may sneak into playoffs, quickly lose. Then alas in 2012, finally look for real QB then.
