According to Pro Football Talk, CJ Spiller is climbing up draft boards, and the Giants could be interested:
There’s a sense in some league circles that only a truly special running back is worthy of a top-ten draft pick.
If so, it means that some regard Clemson’s C.J. Spiller as a truly special running back.
We’re hearing talk of teams possibly trying to invade the lower reaches of the top 10 in order to get a crack at Spiller, with rumors currently focusing on the Dolphins and the Giants.
The Dolphins currently hold the No. 12 pick; the Giants are at 15
OF course, PFT is implying that the Giants would have to trade up to at least 11, to block a possible pick by the Dolphins, if Spiller is the choice. I am all for Spiller. Tremendous talent. Would do wonders for an already good offense. Imagine him and Jacobs and Bradshaw? That would make them one of the higher scoring teams in the league.
Jesse profiled CJ here. Spiller fits the Best Player Available strategy that we here at GiantsGab like to promote. If Spiller is a poor-man’s Reggie Bush or Chris Johnson, I think you have to take him if he’s there at 15. Do you trade up for him, like PFT suggests you’ll have to? I’m not sure. Do the Giants want to trade picks? I don’t know. I think if they love him, they’ll take him, whatever it takes.
