More evidence that Favre will be a Viking again in 2010

It only took me a few days after the NFC Championship game to make my Brett Favre prediction.

He is coming back.

That may or may not hold true, but a recent report certainly goes a long ways towards solidifying that notion.

Newsday’s Bob Glauber reports that the Vikings used Brett Favre as a recruitment tool when it came to attempting to sign Ladanian Tomlinson.

Those efforts failed, but the fact that Favre spoke with L.T. on the phone would suggest that Favre has a stake in the upcoming season.

Which means he probably plans on playing in it.

Of course, the flip side of that is one not being addressed.  As I had suggested previously, I suspect Favre may have prompted the Vikings to pursue L.T. by lobbying Brad Childress when he recently visited Favre’s home.

The fact that the Vikings failed to get the deal done could cause more worry about Favre’s status.

According to Brad Childress, however, Brett Favre has a great amount of faith in Albert Young.

“Probably not enough has been said about Albert Young,” Childress said. “Albert Young is a guy that has developed here tremendously in the last two years.  As a matter of fact, Brett Favre and I had a long conversation about him when we were down south, and he believes he’s got a chance to be a good back in this league.”

The fact that Childress and Favre had an in depth conversation about Young, but then decided to chase Tomlinson anyway suggests, to me, that Childress is lying through his teeth and that Favre has made it clear he expects to see the Vikings sign someone that at least compares to the talents of Chester Taylor.  And that he doesn’t think Albert Young is that guy.

Only time will tell.

The fact that LT decided to sign in NY speaks volumes.
