Predictably, there’s a rumor circulating that WR Donte Stallworth has drawn interest from the Bengals. It’s probably pure speculation and heresay, but here’s the link.
PFT is also reporting the team has interest in WR Matt Jones.
Queue the tired jokes.
Stallworth was recently reinstated by the commissioner after completing his legal obligations. New Browns poobah Mike Holmgren cut him shortly thereafter. Jones was cut by the Jaguars after Cocaine and Alcohol related incidents.
Help at receiver will be a priority for the team this offseason, and the team is particularly interested in players with the speed to stretch the field.
It’s considered a weak draft at wide-out, but the team will certainly pick at least one, potentially in the first round. There should also be plenty of other veteran options available, including Terrell Owens, Torry Holt, Chris Chambers and other players in the 30+ set. A new CBA would create even more options.
