Saints Bring Back Running Back Duece McAllister

The Deuce is loose again!

The Saints re-signed veteran running back Deuce McAllister after a year away from football. McAllister, a fan favorite, is listed on the active roster. To make room on the roster for McAllister, the Saints placed reserve DE Rodney Leslie on injured reserve.

McAllister rushed for 6,069 yards in seven seasons with the Saints. He also holds the team record with 49 rushing touchdowns. He is best remembered for his role in the Saints last playoff victory in 2007, a game in which he rushed for a hard nosed 143 yards and scored two touchdowns against the Philadelphia Eagles.

McAllister’s role with the team is uncertain.  He is unlikely to play in Saturday’s Divisional Playoff game. He was likely signed as an insurance policy at running back and for his veteran leadership in the locker room.
