Jets WR Edwards Says He Wants to Stay in NY Past This Year

The StarLedger reports that wide out Braylon Edwards wants to stay with the Jets beyond this season:

Jets acrobatic wide receiver Braylon Edwards is doing his talking with his play and his mouth. And if he can stay off the police blotter, he and rookie quarterback Mark Sanchez could play pitch-and-catch for a long, long time. Since being acquired from the Browns, Edwards has 13 catches for 192 yards and two touchdowns, including a three-yarder against the Dolphins in Week 8 in which he fought through two defenders to get into the end zone.

”For me, it was a statement of my will and determination,” Edwards said Monday. ”It’s a new attitude I have playing football. Being in a place where I’m happy and comfortable, that’s the kind of effort and desire that I have for this team. ”Those are the plays that I want to continue to make to show these guys that I belong and that I’m happy I’m here. I really like this situation. I like the organization from top-to-bottom. I like the city. I’m trying to do everything I can to prove who I am and I’m the guy that they need.”

    Dear JETS Fans,

My dearest condolences. I am an avid Brown’s fan from birth, but following the draft; trade picks to among others, the Jets/ starting Brady Quinn/ and our inability to trade no hand/eye coordination Edwards to the Giants; My Brother and I decided it would be best that we choose other football teams to support this season. I choose the Jets. Two RB that I had confidence in, A new rookie QB who is the talk of the town for his leadership, Bart Scott-!, And a new REAL defensive minded head coach to replace that bozo that for some unforeseen reason another team (that will remain unnamed) picked up to lead them into the dirt.. but I digress. So you can imagine my complete joy to see my new team off to a 3-1 start with a win over NE and a respectable lost to the undefeated Saints… And then my Worst nightmare. The player that forced me to abandon beloved Browns is traded to my now beloved Jets! And just like any good nightmare, no one sees the horror that await but me! Jets fans rave and rant about how stupid the Browns are to let a stud like Edwards get away,… “Edwards is a Pro Bowler!” “Edwards is 6’3″ with 4.4 speed!” “Yes! A player that can make spectacular plays!”(lol). We’ll we.. (ahem) I mean you haven’t won a game since(except Oakland if you count that, it’s 1-4). You lost to the Bill! Ironically, the Browns beat the Bills after trading Edwards. Its their only win. Your Star Rookie QB looks dejected and second guesses his decisions because the balls he throws no longer make completions. “Is it me?!” Its not you Mark Sanchez…
