Eric Mangini is probably smiling from ear to ear this morning as he has finally rid the Browns of Braylon Edwards. Cleveland traded Braylon Edwards to the Jets early this morning. This comes as no surprise given the circumstances of Edwards squable two nights ago with a local party promoter and good friend of LeBron James.
The Browns tried to trade Edwards before the draft to the Giants but were unable to get what the felt at the time was a fair deal. The Browns are glad to be rid of the former first round pick and troublemaker Edwards. Reports are the Jets have traded WR Chansi Stuckey, LB Jason Trusnik and two draft picks to the Browns for Edwards.
Trusnik won AFC Special Teams Player of the Week last week and Stuckey is third on the team in receiving with 11 catches for 120 yards and a touchdown.
Edwards once again has struggled this year, with 10 catches for 139 yards in the team’s four games. His only really big season was 2007, when he caught 80 balls for 1,289 yards and 16 touchdowns. He regressed last year to 55 catches, 873 yards and only three scores.
