What hasn’t been said about Buffalo Bills wide receiver Terrell Owens that hasn’t been said in the past? Malcontent. Narcissistic. Outspoken. Lots of others probably apply to him, I’m sure. But nonetheless, he is what he is.
And based on his reception streak ending in the Bills’ 27-7 loss to the New Orleans Saints (he had a 185-game streak going prior to Sunday’s game), it looks like we may get a reoccurrence of the old T.O., according to Patrick Moran of Buffalo Sports Daily.
As of late, he has actually increased his verbiage from the “no comment” to actual one-sentence replies during his post-game to the media. Please note that Owens said nary a word after the Bills’ first two games; however, that changed after the Bills’ loss this past Sunday when he uttered this nine-word sentence 5 times:
“I’m just going with the plays that are called.”
And as you would expect, the media (presumably the print variety) pressed him further; Owens did expound further, although not by much:
“I don’t want to answer that because whatever I say you guys are turn it into however you want to say it.”
So folks, take that any way that you want to, but if memory serves me here, I think T.O. went through something very similar to this while as a member of the Dallas Cowboys. Methinks that he isn’t exactly enamored with the Bills’ offense in its current state (in other words, no balls are being thrown his way), so it is entirely possible that an Owens implosion could be forthcoming. But to be fair, the season is only three weeks old.
It will be interesting how head coach Dick Jauron handles this situation later this season as he clearly is no Wade Phillips; based on that and Owens’ track record, it may be a matter of not if, but when the first implosion takes place. So folks, in the words of Owens, you better get your popcorn ready.
