Week One Preview: Miami at Atlanta

Year two of the Matt Ryan and Mike Smith Era kicks off Sunday as the Falcons take on the Dolphins at the Georgia Dome in the season opener for both teams. The Dolphins are out to make sure that 2008 was no fluke, and they want to prove that they are a good as their 11-5 mark a year ago.

Chad Pennington is coming off a great preseason, and the veteran QB is going to be looking to have another successful season. Ronnie Brown and Ricky Williams once again make a good 1-2 punch at RB for the Fins, the only issue seems to be the WR core, as after Ted Ginn Jr. they are shakey, as Davone Bess will have a shot to step up and make a name for himself this year.

The Falcons will look to pound the Dolphins with Michael Turner, and also then open up the passing game with Ryan and Roddy White. Miami will need to step up and pressure Ryan, forcing some mistakes for the second-year QB. As for the run game, it will fall on Turner and Jerious Norwood to take the load off the passing game.

Look for a hard fought battle between two teams with something to prove. In the end, this looks like a field goal game that easily could come down to the wire.

Atlanta 20 Miami 17
