Uh oh. It’s tough for healthy good quarterbacks to get past the rough and tough Ravens defense, but this week the Chiefs seem to be in for some big problems, as Matt Cassel will not be 100 percent when he and his Chiefs travel to Baltimore to take on the Ravens.
Kansas City is hoping to put the past behind them, as the past two seasons have been a complete nightmare. Enter Scott Pioli and Todd Haley, the GM/Coach connection that is hoping to put the Chiefs back on the map as a competitive team in 2009.
It won’t be easy in week one, as the Ravens come into the season with the hopes of repeating their run last season that saw them fall just one game short of the Super Bowl. Despite losing Rex Ryan and LB Bart Scott, the team is counting on the maturity of Joe Flacco and still a tough defense to carry them through.
This week shouldn’t be a problem. The Chiefs are a scrappy bunch, and they will get better as the season goes on, but in this game, it’ll be Ray Rice and the Ravens defense that takes control and dominates. Look for this to be somewhat of a game in the first half, but come third quarter, the Ravens will flex their muscles enough to put the young Chiefs away.
