Browns Coach Eric Mangini Continues to Play Hide and Seek About His Starting QB

And the secrets out of Berea continue.

Yes, Eric Mangini says he finally knows who the Browns starting QB will be come opening day vs the Vikings at home, he’s just not in the sharing mood.

“In terms of announcing it publicly, that’s not something I plan to do,” he said. “It will be internal. I understand everybody has a different opinion on it. I respect that. I understand the excitement in relationship to that and I respect that as well. But that will be something that will be internal.”

So when exactly will we know if it will be Derek Anderson or Brady Quinn? An hour before the game? When the teams offense takes the field for the first time? All signs seemed to have pointed all preseason to Quinn. He simply was the better QB, but for some reason, Mangini seems to want to carry on the secret of who exactly the leader of the offense will be.

The question is – why?

The Vikings are not going to spend countless hours losing sleep over facing either QB, so at this point, Mangini should simply end the charade of trying to hide things, and do the thing he should have done two weeks ago – named Quinn the starter and let this team start to look at him as the offensive leader he needs to be to lead this team.
