Final Roster Cuts Being Announced as Teams Get to 53


Here we go once again as it’s that time for teams to get their rosters down to 53. As we get the cuts in we’ll update this post. Here’s what we know so far:

New Orleans

The Saints released their roster cuts. The following players have been waived: WR Adrian Arrington, G Nate Bennett, T Michael Brown, C Digger Bujnoch, RB Herb Donaldson, G Tim Duckworth, CB Danny Gorrer, WR Skyler Green, DT Earl Heyman, RB P.J. Hill, TE Martrez Milner, T Jermey Parnell, DT DeMario Pressley, WR Courtney Roby, WR Matt Simon and LB Anthony Waters. The following players has been terminated: G/T Anthony Davis, QB Joey Harrington and DE Paul Spicer.

Dallas

Dallas has announced their cuts: WR Isaiah Stanback and WR Jesse Holley, lte-round draft picks DeAngelo Smith and Mike Mickens, a pair of defensive backs from the University of Cincinnati. The complete list of players waived are: Travis Bright, Courtney Brown, Rudy Carpenter, Scott Chandler, Julius Crosslin, Marcus Dixon, Tearrius George, Ryan Gibbons, Jeremy Haynes, Jesse Holley, Mike Jefferson, Manuel Johnson, Keon Lattimore (waived/injured), Mike Mickens, Willie Reid, Derreck Robinson, Asaph Schwapp, Jonas Seawright, DeAngelo Smith, Isaiah Stanback, Matt Stewart and DeAngelo Willingham. Rookie linebacker Stephen Hodge was placed on injured reserve.

San Francisco

The San Francisco 49ers cut ties with 20 players this afternoon to reach the 53-man limit, and among the cuts was just one draft pick from this year, tight end Bear Pascoe, a sixth rounder. The cuts also included: T Jacob Bender, T Alex Boone, WR Dobson Collins, DE Pannel Egboh, TE Joe Jon Finley, CB Eric Green, G Kyle Howard, CB Terrail Lambert, FB Brit Miller, DT Khalif Mitchell, LB Jay Moore, TE Bear Pascoe, WR Maurice Price, FB Bill Rentmeester, LB Justin Roland, RB Kory Sheets, G/C Matt Spanos, T Joe Toledo, LB Mark Washington, WR Dominique Zeigler.

Chicago

The Bears on Saturday reached the NFL’s mandatory 53-man roster limit by terminating the contracts of guard Dan Buenning, cornerback Rod Hood and linebacker Darrell McClover; waiving 16 players including wide receiver Brandon Rideau; and placing three others on injured reserve. Players who were waived included guard Johan Asiata, defensive ends Ervin Baldwin and Joe Clermond, offensive tackle Cody Balogh, quarterback Brett Basanez, cornerbacks Rudy Burgess, Marcus Hamilton and Woodny Turenne, fullbacks Jason Davis and Will Ta’ufo’ou, linebackers Marcus Freeman, Kevin Malast and Mike Rivera, receiver Eric Peterman, and center Donovan Raiola. Running back Kevin Jones, who tore ligaments in his left ankle in Thursday night’s preseason finale, was placed on injured reserve, as were safety Dahna Deleston (hamstring) and defensive end Henry Melton (ankle).

Pittsburgh

The Pittsburgh Steelers placed tight end Sean McHugh on their reserve-injured list and cut 21 players to get down to the NFL roster limit of 53 players the team announced today. The Steelers’ cuts included: quarterback Mike Reilly, running backs Carey Davis, Isaac Redman and Justin Vincent, wide receivers Dallas Baker, Tyler Grisham and Brandon Williams, tight end Dezmond Sherrod, offensive linemen Jason Capizzi, Jeremy Parquet and A.Q. Shipley, defensive linemen Sonny Harris, Steve McClendon and Scott Paxson, linebackers Bruce Davis, Tom Korte, Andy Schantz and Donovan Woods, defensive backs Roy Lewis and Anthony Madison and kicker Piotr Czech.

Houston

The Houston Texans announced their roster moves to get down to 53 players. The Texans waived/injured cornerback A.J. Davis and linebacker Toddrick Verdell. The team also waived: quarterback Alex Brink, linebacker Khary Campbell, linebacker Buster Davis, fullback Jonathan Evans, running back Arian Foster, tight end Clark Harris, free safety Brandon Harrison, center Brett Helms, defensive end Tim Jamison, wide receiver Darnell Jenkins, offensive guard Adrian Jones, defensive tackle Josh Leonard, defensive end Jesse Nading, cornerback Deltha O’Neal, cornerback Mark Parson, cornerback Matterral Richardson, wide receiver Mark Simmons, offensive tackle Adam Stenavich, offensive tackle Brandon Torrey and offensive tackle Cliff Washburn.

Cleveland

Here are the 21 roster moves for Cleveland to get to 53: Waived are FB Charles Ali, DB Brandon Anderson, QB Richard Bartel, DB Tra Battle, LB Beau Bell, OL Branndon Braxton, LB Titus Brown, OL Dustin Fry, DL Adam Hoppel, WR Paul Hubbard, RB Chris Jennings, WR Lance Leggett, OL Pat Murray, WR Jordan Norwood, OL Kurt Quarterman, DL Brian Schaefering, OL Isaac Sowells, DL Santonio Thomas. The team also terminated the contracts of: DB Hamza Abdullah, RB Noah Herron, DB Corey Ivy, WR David Patten, and TE Aaron Walker. the team reached an injury settlement with DL Melila Purcell, who had been on the club’s injured reserve list.

Tennessee

The Titans waived the following players to reach the 53-player roster limit: DE Larry Birdine, LB Rocky Boiman, TE Casey Cramer, CB Tanard Davis, G Ryan Durand, CB DeMarcus Faggins, FB Rodney Ferguson, LB Ryan Fowler, RB Quinton Ganther (injured), S Tuff Harris, WR Mark Jones, DT Mitch King, T Cory Lekkerkerker, WR Phillip Morris, TE Matthew Mulligan, G Jason Murphy, DT LaJuan Ramsey, S Nick Schommer, LB Josh Stamer, P A.J. Trapasso, OL Fernando Velasco and WR Paul Williams.

Washington

The Redskins have just released their 53-man roster and the following players have been cut: Robbie Agnone; Anthony Alridge; Jeremy Bridges; Scott Burley; Alex Buzbee; Chase Daniel; Antonio Dixon; Dominique Dorsey; Doug Dutch; Keith Eloi, Cody Glenn, D.J. Hackett, Lendy Holmes; Rob Jackson; Dave Rayner; Rueben Riley; Trent Shelton; J.D. Skolnitsky; Robert Thomas; Eddie Williams; Darrel Young.

Tampa Bay

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers waived T Anthony Alabi, CB Kyle Arrington, DT Chris Bradwell, C Rob Bruggeman, DE, Jarriett Buie, S Steve Cargile, WR Patrick Carter, DT Rashaad Duncan, DE Louis Holmes, RB Kareem Huggins, CB Darrell Hunter, T James Lee ,TE Jason Pociask, TE Ryan Purvis, LB Bo Ruud, WR Mario Urrutia. The team also Waived/Injured S Donte Nicholson and terminated vested veterans K Matt Bryant, FB Jameel Cook, WR Cortez Hankton and WR Marcus Maxwell. The Buccaneers receive roster exemptions for safety Tanard Jackson and guard Arron Sears.

Philadelphia

The Eagles waived CB Trae Williams, CB Jack Ikegwuonu, DE Bryan Smith, DE Josh Gaines, LB Tank Daniels, FS Reshard Langford, WR Danny Amendola, RB Lorenzo Booker, C Dallas Reynolds, G Paul Fanaika, G Mike Gibson, TE Rob Myers, FB Marcus Mailei and FB Kyle Eckel, released DT Dan Klecko, LB Matt Wilhelm and TE Matt Schobel and also placed OT Fenuki Tupou on injured reserve. The biggest surprise might have been that they placed quarterback Michael Vick on the “exempt” list, meaning he doesn’t count against the roster but cannot practice during the two weeks he is suspended. Perhaps because of that exemption, A.J. Feeley remains with the team for now.

New York Giants

The Giants got down to the magic number of 53 by trading tight end Michael Matthews to the New England Patriots, terminating the contract of veteran wide receiver and Super Bowl hero David Tyree, placing defensive tackle Jay Alford on injured reserve following knee surgery, and reaching an injury settlement with fellow tackle Jeremy Clark, who had an ankle injury. The players waived were quarterbacks Andre’ Woodson and Rhett Bomar; running back Allen Patrick; fullback Dwayne Wright; offensive linemen Terrence Pennington, Orrin Thompson and Cliff Louis; wide receiver Shaun Bodiford; defensive linemen Maurice Evans, Tommie Hill, Robert Henderson and Anthony Bryant; linebacker Kenny Ingram; cornerback DeAndre Wright; and safeties Travonti Johsnon, Vince Anderson and Sha’reff Rashad.

Denver

The Broncos have released their official list of cuts to get the roster down to 53 players. Here are the cuts from Saturday: outside linebacker Tim Crowder, running back Darius Walker, wide receiver Matthew Willis, defensive end Nic Clemons, offensive lineman Mitch Erickson, cornerback Tony Carter, defensive end Everette Pedescleaux, tight end Marquez Branson, linebacker Braxton Kelley, safety Vernon Fox, safety Antwain Spann and cornerback D.J. Johnson. Add those to the 11 moves made Friday: Center Kory Lichtensteiger, defensive tackle Carlton Powell, defensive end Matthias Askew, quarterback Ingle Martin, cornerback Rashod Moulton, offensive lineman Clint Oldenburg (a Colorado State graduate), linebacker Lee Robinson, wide receiver Nate Swift, running back Marcus Thomas, cornerback Joshua Bell were all released. Offensive lineman Matt McChesney was placed on injured reserve while the team and McChesney’s representatives negotiate an injury settlement.

Detroit

All three of the Lions seventh rounders – tight end Dan Gronkowski, linebacker Zack Follett and tackle Lydon Murtha – were released. The Lions also released defensive tackle Shaun Smith, who appeared to be playing well enough to earn a roster spot. The other players released were: linebacker Rufus Alexander, quarterback Brooks Bollinger, guard Milford Brown, tight end Carson Butler, running back Aveion Cason, receiver Keary Colbert, defensive end Sean Conover, kicker Billy Cundiff, defensive tackle Chuck Darby, running back Tristan Davis, center Dan Gerberry, wide receiver Dane Looker, safety Calvin Lowry, cornerback Ramzee Robinson, safety Stuart Schweigert, linebacker Spenser Smith and wide receiver John Standeford.

Indianapolis

The Colts on Saturday waived 18 players and placed three players on waived-injured to reach the regular season 53-player roster limit. The players waived were: Running back Lance Ball, wide receiver Sam Giguere, defensive lineman John Gill, defensive tackle Adrian Grady, running back Mike Hart, defensive end Marcus Howard, defensive back Dante Hughes, center Steve Justice, wide receiver John Matthews, wide receiver Brett McDermott, running back Walter Mendenhall, offensive lineman Tom Pestock, wide receiver Taj Smith, linebacker Michael Tauiliili, defensive tackle Terrance Taylor, offensive lineman Jaimie Thomas, defensive end Josh Thomas and offensive tackle Michael Toudouze. Waived-Injured were: defensive backs Nick Graham and Travis Key and tight end Jamie Petrowski.

Miami

The Dolphins released 12 players and placed LB Matt Roth on the reserve/non-football injury list to trim their roster to the 53-man limit. The dozen players let go are – WR Brandon London, S Courtney Bryan, CB Joey Thomas, LB William Kershaw, DE Rod Wright, OL Brandon Frye, CB Will Billingsley, OG/C Mark Lewis, LB J.D. Folsom, OT Nate Garner, wide receiver James Robinson and DE Ryan Baker.

Oakland

Raiders cuts announced Saturday to get the the 53-man minimum: S Jerome Boyd, WR Johnnie Holland, LB David Nixon, LB Slade Norris, LB Chris O’Neal, FB Marcel Reece, RB Gary Russell, LB Morlon Greenwood, CB Justin Miller, QB Jeff Garcia, S Rashad Baker (waived injured), DB Michael Hawkins (waived injured), C John Wade (waived injured), DT Ryan Boschetti, DT Terdell Sands, CB Darrick Brown, OT Seth Wand, G Mark Wilson, T James Marten, TE Darrell Strong and DE Greyson Gunheim.

Minnesota

The Vikings waived/released the following players on Saturday to bring their roster to the regular-season required total of 53 players: DB Colt Anderson, QB John David Booty, FB Nehemiah Broughton, DE Martail Burnett, OL Chris Clark, OL Brian Daniels, OL Juan Garcia, DE Otis Grigsby, S De’von Hall, LB David Herron, DT Antoine Holmes, RB Ian Johnson, DT Tremaine Johnson, OL Andy Kemp, CB Marcus McCauley, TE Garrett Mills, WR Nick Moore, TE Jake Nordin, WR Vinny Perretta, OL Drew Radovich, DB Marcus Walker and WR Bobby Williams. All 5 of the Vikings 2009 draft selections made the team.

New England

With the NFL-mandatory cut-down to a 53-man roster today, the Patriots released 10 players. The Patriots announced the release of the following 10 players: first-year DL Titus Adams, fourth-year T Wesley Britt, fourth-year DB Herana-Daze Jones, eighth-year LB Paris Lenon, rookie DB Jamar Love, rookie WR Terrence Nunn, fourth-year T Ryan O’Callaghan, rookie DL Darryl Richard, fifth-year TE Alex Smith and fourth-year S Ray Ventrone.

Kansas City

The Kansas City Chiefs released their final roster cuts. Notable names include S Bernard Pollard, LB Zach Thomas, and WR Ashley Lelie. The full list is: CB Jackie Bates, TE Tom Crabree, DE Dion Gales, DE Bobby Greenwood, G Darryl Harris, WR Taurus Johnson, WR Ashley Lelie, DT Derek Lokey, S Bernard Pollard, S Ricky Price, LB Zach Thomas, RB Javarris Williams, WR Rodney Wright. OT Colin Brown was placed on Injured Reserve.
