The NY Daily News reports that the Broncos are watching the Jets closely when it comes to Brandon Marshall, and that they are looking at the dreaded word – tampering:
A little bit of the Jets-Patriots rivalry has traveled west. After two weeks of hearing about the Jets’ reported interest in disgruntled Pro Bowl wide receiver Brandon Marshall, the Broncos apparently got fed up and dropped the “T” word – tampering. The Broncos are monitoring the Jets’ comments to gauge whether they are tampering with Marshall, ESPN reported Wednesday. Marshall, currently suspended for conduct detrimental to the team, wants out of Denver, but the Broncos say they have no intention of trading him. Denver is coached by former Patriots assistant Josh McDaniels, a disciple of Bill Belichick. McDaniels was on Belichick’s staff in 2006, when the Patriots filed formal charges against the Jets for alleged tampering with wide receiver Deion Branch.
There’s been a lot talk the last 24 hours about Marshall, with Josh McDaniels saying that Marshall is not on the block, but make no mistake, where’s there is smoke, there’s fire, and if the Jets are really interested in Marshall, look for the two teams to talk, and then if a deal can be done, Marshall on the move to New York could in fact happen.
