Broncos first-round pick Knowshon Moreno continues to be a holdout, along with a number of other high profile number one picks. There appears to be good news coming in the story of Moreno, as the Denver Post is reporting that it looks like a deal is close:
Significant progress has been made in contract negotiaitions between the Broncos and running back Knowshon Moreno, the team’s No. 12 overall pick.
An agreement on what will be a 5-year deal has not yet been reached but it’s getting close. Broncos general manager Brian Xanders and Moreno’s agents, Tom Condon and Ben Dogra, were expected to work into the night with hopes of getting a deal done Friday.
The pick of Moreno was somewhat of a surprise, as the Broncos spent the offseason picking up a number of running backs, but felt they couldn’t pass on the talented runner. Now we’ll see how long the holdout lasts, and how fast it takes to get Moreno up to speed at camp.
