On NFL Radio Friday morning, Peter King was asked the question about Michael Vick and his top three landing spots. The quarterback is still awhile away from coming back, as the league has not even handed down their decision on how long he’ll be kept away from the playing field, but the question about when Vick will be back and for who is one of the top questions fans want to know.
Below are the three landing spots that King spoke about this morning on NFL radio with some comments about the clubs that are in the mix:
1. Oakland – King said he wouldn’t doubt that Vick will seek out and have a talk with Raiders owner Al Davis when he’s allowed to start finding a new club. The Raiders have a long history of taking in troubled players and giving them a shot. In this case, Vick fits the mold as one troubled player that the Raiders might have great interest in.
2. New Orleans – There was reports that the Saints had no interest, but King said that a high ranking official told him that New Orleans was in the mix for Vick, who they have seen quite a bit of over the past few seasons playing him twice a season in the NFC South. The Saints already have a top notch QB in Drew Brees, so forget about him playing QB. Maybe as a “slash” type of wide out/QB, or maybe as a “wildcat” QB would fit Vick well.
3. New England – Think Bill Belichick wouldn’t love to have Vick in the fold to run some option plays and what not with him? The Pats have no fear about the issues surrounding Vick, and have been in the mix for his services as a darkhorse from day one. Look for New England to be quiet about it, but in the end, be one of the teams talking to him about coming aboard and making an impact.
