Breaking Down the Possible Landing Spots for Plaxico Burress

Burress Weapons Charges Football
There seems to be little doubt that Plaxico Burress is going to find his way on a NFL field near you in 2009. Burress, who is still in the midst of a legal battle over the gun possession issues from last year, is a target of a couple of teams, and here is the breakdown of those teams and where he could end up.

New York Jets – The Jets seem to be the most active suitor for Burress, who would be their number one wide out. The team does not seem the least bit scared off by the legal issues surrounding Burress, and it would not be a surprise at all if he’s wearing green of the Jets at the start of the season. Would make a good combo w/ rookie QB Mark Sanchez.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers
– Burress would have to get use to catching passes from one of a couple Tampa Bay QB’s, including possibly Byron Leftwich or rookie Josh Freeman. The team already has Antonio Bryant coming back off a big 2008 season, but they are another squad wanting to add to their WR position.

Chicago Bears – Right now Rasheed Davis and Devin Hester are the two starting WR’s for the Bears, showing how weak they really are at the position. Burress would be able to get a ton of passes from new Bears QB Jay Cutler, and those two could make a deadly combo in the NFC North. Bears fans would quickly embrace Burress, and it would take pressure off of Cutler early.

Baltimore Ravens – The birds are a longshot for Burress, but they are another team in a flux at the WR spot, and could use a player with the talent of a Burress. Plus there would be the added desire to go up twice a season against his former team – the Steelers. The Ravens were a legit SB contender last season without Burress, they would for sure be a contender in 09 with him.

Philadelphia Eagles – Highly doubt after the T.O. fiasco of a few years back that they would take a shot at Burress, but the Eagles want to win now, and Burress would be a big addition to their roster. Going up against the G-Men twice a season would be reason enough to go to Philly, but he would have to for sure mind his p’s and q’s in the city of Brotherly Love.
