For those that feel that first-round pick Mark Sanchez should simply be given the starting job over veteran Kellen Clemens should beware. It looks as if as of now, Clemens is ahead of Sanchez in the race to be the starter for the Jets. The New York Daily News reports that Clemens looks quite a bit better so far:
Through 11 OTA practices, Clemens is clearly ahead of the Golden Boy. Sanchez looked lost at the beginning, but he came on last week, demonstrating a better grasp of the offense. No one is going to win or lose the starting job in this minicamp, but Sanchez can close the gap with a strong performance.
From his photo shoot in GQ to just the simple fact the Jets moved up to grab him, the experts all predict that Sanchez will be the opening day starter come September. Problem is, the decision is up to coach Ryan, and if Clemens has anything to say about it, Sanchez will start the season on the bench.
