Eagles RB Brian Westbrook was not been at the teams voluntary offseason practice, and many thought it was due to the running backs surgically-repaired knee. Turns out according that Westbrook’s issues are due to an ankle problem. “His knee is feeling good,” coach Andy Reid said, according to Bob Brookover of the Philadelphia Inquirer. “So, yeah, it’s just his ankle at the moment.”
Westbrook hurt his ankle last season in a week three game vs the Steelers, but it’s unknown if that is the injury that is still giving him problems to this day. “I wish I could tell you more, but I don’t know more right this minute,” Reid said. “But we’ll know more as we go on here the next couple of days.”
Being a huge part of the Eagles offense, it’s going to be important to get Westbrook healthy if the team is going to make a serious run at the NFC East and a Super Bowl run again in 2009.
