Thinking the Bears have interest in troubled wide out Plaxico Burress? Forget it. Bears General Manager Jerry Angelo has basically killed any thoughts of the team going after Burress, saying that they were not one of the two teams agent Drew Rosenhaus said had an interest in Plax.
“Are we one of those two teams?” Angelo told Vaughn McClure of the Chicago Tribune. “No.”
The former Steelers and Giants WR has a pending gun charge, which has yet to be resolved with law enforcement authorities. He will have a court hearing on June 15th. As for his football future, that is very much up in the air, but you know that some team out the needing pass catchers is going to give him a flier to come in and compete.
“He could help any team,” Angelo said of Burress. “His play, his production speaks for itself. Everybody would love to have him on their team, including the New York Giants. But obviously, they are things that have to happen now for him to play in the league, get on with his life. There are a lot of hurdles to cross before you can really seriously sit here and use that as a viable option.”
