PETA Responds to Vick Possibly Doing an Ad for Them

petavick
We reported yesterday the story about Falcons jailed QB Michael Vick possibly working out a deal with PETA to do a spot in exchange for their support to be able to get back into the league.

Today, we heard from Amy Cook, the Assistant Manager of Marketing for PETA, who sent us the companies official statement on Vick and the situation:

To clarify misleading stories regarding PETA and Michael Vick, PETA withdrew its offer to do a TV spot with Michael Vick last winter when a U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) report on Vick’s dogfighting activities revealed that he enjoyed placing family pets in the ring with fighting pit bulls and that he laughed as dogs ripped each other apart. PETA believes that this revelation, along with other factors in the report, fit the established profile for anti-social personality disorder (APD), and we called on Vick to have a brain scan to help confirm this.

People diagnosed with APD are commonly referred to as “psychopaths.” They are usually male, prone to lying and manipulation, often take pleasure in cruelty, and cannot feel genuine remorse, which frequently leads to recidivism. PETA had previously been in talks with Vick’s management, public relations, and legal teams about shooting a public service announcement to help combat dogfighting, upon Vick’s release from prison.

In December, after consulting with psychiatrists, PETA withdrew the offer for the TV spot, and in January, we called on NFL Commissioner Goodell to require that Vick undergo a brain scan and full psychological evaluation before any decisions were made about the future of his football career.

Thanks again to PETA for this release in order to clear up the story.

.WOW! This is really interesting. PETA wants the NFL (NFL Commissioner Goodell) to conduct a brain scan on Michael Vick’s brain to determain should he be re-instated to play football in the NFL. Whats next, will it be a requirement for all black teens to take a brain scan to go to college with white teens. I really think PETA has lost touch reality. This is a case that PETA is trying to push their issue and to stay in front of the media for their cause. No, I’m not a dog lover, but I am a GOD fearing person, father, husband. Who love and respect life. I think there is so many injustices in the world that is alot bigger than Michael Vick playing football again. Lets stop and think what we are supporting and start supporting what we should support.

Michael, you sound like a true hypo christian.. I love when people like yourself expose your ignorance, thank you. As far as Vick, He’s a thug, a menace to society, a waste of time and payroll. Stop using him to push your racist agenda and you’ll see the light, good luck.
