Cardinals Unhappy Players Boldin and Dockett Miss the First Day of Practice

The ever popular “injury” bug kept two Cardinals out of their first practice today, as wide out Anquan Boldin and DT Darnell Dockett, both players with a cloud of issues over them, sat out the session. It’s no secret that both are not happy with their current contracts, and both claimed they had injured hammys. Hmmmm.

“They showed up last night and reported an injury that we weren’t aware of,” coach Ken Whisenhunt said, “so as part of our procedure we sent them for MRIs. Hey, we know what’s going on, so I’m really not going to have much to say about that.”

LB Karlos Dansby and safety Adrian Wilson are two other players with issues, but they were on the field for the defending NFC Champions. As for Boldin and Dockett, neither were around for reporters to ask questions in the locker room after the practice session.

One guy who did talk about Boldin was his QB – Kurt Warner. “I’ve been in contact with Anquan the whole offseason,” Warner said. “My whole goal is to let him know how important he is to me and to this organization. … Every moment that goes past that it looks like he’s going to be here longer is a definite good moment for me and I think this organization.”

“He’s one of the best in the business. He makes our football team better, he makes me better, he makes Larry (Fitzgerald) better,” he said. “We’re not the same football team, I’m not the same player, without Anquan Boldin.”

The wide out, who was on the trading block last week as the draft approached, has two years left on a four-year, $22.25 million contract. Dockett has three years left on his contract, and he wants a new one, even though the team hasn’t done much about it as of yet.
