The day is here, draft day is upon us. Now we will wait and wonder: Who will the Cleveland Browns draft?
Though I am still hoping that Aaron Curry falls into our laps at number five, the chances of that are slim, as Kansas City will probably take him at number three.
So who else do we take? Who would be the perfect fit?
I am sold on Michael Crabtree, no matter what happens with Braylon Edwards. The reason is because he “wants” to play in Cleveland and that is what we need, a player who would enjoy our city and fans.
Many have compared the 6’1, 214lb receiver to Edwards, but the big difference between the two is their attitude.
According to the Cleveland Plain Dealer, Crabtree was quoted as saying.
“I loved Cleveland and would love to play there,” Crabtree said in an email. “It’s a team with great history and great fans who love football.”
This is what we need.
All to often during the 10 years that the Browns have been back in Cleveland, we have had talented players, with bad attitudes and a me first mind-set. A great example of this are players like Edwards and former Brown Kellen Winslow.
Crabtree has a good head on his shoulders and has the talent to be a star number one receiver. he makes all of the tough catches in traffic and holds on to the ball even when he is hit hard after the catch. Something Edwards has had trouble doing.
The point is: The Browns need players like this if they want to build their team around, not just talent, but players who want to play and want to win. Much of the Browns problems in recent years has been “attitude” and guys who are not team players.
With Crabtree, the “new” Browns could be on their way to something special.
