Browns Have Got to Get it Right This Time Around

Just one year ago everything seemed to be right here on the shores of Lake Erie, Last year before the big debacle we had bigger and better things then the NFL Draft we were thinking Super Bowl. After we watched that movie with it ending in Romeo Crennel, Phil Savage and Kellen Winslow all leaving Cleveland and with rumors that Braylon Edwards and Brady Quinn are both on there way out as well this years draft has a different feel to it.

Who knows what’s going to go on this weekend other then the Browns without a doubt are going to be one of the busiest teams this weekend. The Browns needs are Wide recievers,Linebackers and a shutdown cornerback. Aaron Curry falling to us at number five pick would be the dream situation and I really would like to see him wearing the Brown and Orange on Sundays but don’t think its going to happen.

Then comes Brian Orakpo, he can put pressure on the quarterback and with the Browns pass rush last year being atrocious he could take some of the pressure off Wimbley. If Edwards isn’t dealt then I think Orakpo will be the newest Brown trying chase down Squeeler Quarterback Big Ben. If Edwards is dealt then I think the Cleveland Browns will select Michael Crabtree out of Texas Tech. Michael Crabtree is playmaker coming out of College.

Nobody really knows if Crabtree is going to be the real deal. If he stays healthy he can be a real threat in the AFC. With 19 touchdowns and 1,165 receiving yards in College Football last the question is can do that in in a 16 week NFL schedule. Mark Sanchez has been the hot name leading up to the NFL draft. With 3,207 passing yards and 34 Touchdowns in 2008, and the Browns not sold on Quinn or Anderson, Sanchez name is in the hat.

The Browns do have a lot more needs to fill then drafting a quarterback and this why I feel Mankok is sending smoke screens about Sanchez because if he does fall then the Cleveland Browns should be able to trade down in the draft and acquire more picks and possibly be in a position to draft Ray Maualuga, who is one of those old school linebackers that will intimidate you and be a safe pick for the Browns.

I think Ray can come in next year and help this defense right away and also bring a mentality that defensively the Cleveland Browns haven’t had that type of player since they have been back. Hakeem Nicks a Junior out of North Carolina is entering the NFL Draft and could be a viable answer late in the first round if the Browns acquire another First Round pick with 1,222 receiving yards and 12 Touchdowns the Receiver could even slip to the Browns early in the Second round and if he does has the size and speed to become a number one receiver in the NFL.

Vontae Davis could also be an option in the Second Round if the Browns already drafted a Wide Receiver (Michael Crabtree) then Vontae Davis stands at 6’0 204 Ibs ran the 40 yard dash in 4.49 and is a defensive playmaker. If he does slip to the Browns in the second round it would be a nice pickup for the Cleveland Browns. Other then Malcom Jenkins, Davis is the second best Defensive back in this years Draft. With the Browns second pick in the Second round drafting a running back would help this team take some of the load off Jamal Lewis.

The third best Running Back in the Draft Donald Brown could still be there for the Browns to pick up he has 4.5 speed and would be a young back that Lewis could help mentor before his contract is up with the Browns. Here is what I think the Cleveland Browns are going to do… 5th pick Michael Crabtree..28th pick from the Giants (Braylon Edwards) Clay Matthews Jr.

With the 5th pick in the Second round Hakeem Nicks, and the 18th pick in the second round LeSean Mccoy. Who knows what is going to happen this weekend but it is very important for the Cleveland Browns to get it right this time around. Go Browns Destination Super Bowl!!!!!!

Be interesting to see if Crabtree is still there with the T.Gonzalez trade announced today. Is today’s trade an indication that KC may be seeking a Moss-type compliment to Cassel?
