Now that the attempt for Jay Cutler has passed and things with Jason Campbell are okay, the team is talking about bringing in a veteran backup QB, that being former Jaguar, Falcon and Steeler Byron Leftwich. The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette is reporting that the team has talked to him, and that a contact is being thrown around.
Leftwich, was a top-ten pick of the Jags in 2003, but was cut by Jacksonville only eight days before the start of the 2007 season. After a bad stint in Atlanta, then won a Super Bowl ring as Ben Roethlisberger’s backup in Pittsburgh.
If he does join the club, he would have to battle with backups already on the roster – Todd Collins and Colt Brennan. The move would be a homecoming for Leftwich, who is from the DC area.
