PFT has a great story (via Yahoo! Sports) about some recent comments made by Jeff George. He had this to say:
“If I was in Minnesota, I guarantee I’d be wearing a ring right now. I just can’t get over why somebody like [coach] Brad Childress wouldn’t take a look at me and have me as the third guy on their roster. Put me in and I’ll pick up right where I left off in ’99, but this time with Adrian Peterson, I wouldn’t have to throw it nearly as much.”
George made similar comments in 2007 and Brad Childress responded by saying, “Probably maybe go to a fantasy camp or something like that.” When asked if George was approaching the downside of his career, Childress said, “Downside would probably be — I think — kind.” Ouch.
However, when a coach makes a promise to the fans that they will “turn over every rock” when it comes to improving at quarterback, maybe he owes to those fans to at least bring George in to see what he’s got.
