Gil Brandt is reporting that the Dolphins are interested in Norfolk State cornerback Don Carey. Carey is 5’ 11, and weighs in at 192 pounds. Carey ran a 4.49 40-yard dash at the Combine, so he is fast, and he is also versatile. Carey can play both the cornerback and safety positions. Also, at the Combine, Carey pumped out 225 pounds 18 times at the bench press.
At the Norfolk State pro-day, Dolphins secondary coach Todd Bowles was seen conducting the drills, and Bowles arrived a day before the Pro-Day in order to meet with Carey.
Besides the impressive Combine and Pro-day workouts, Carey also flashed his skills at the East-West Shrine Game according to published reports.
The Dolphins are also reportedly interested in cornerbacks Sean Smith from Utah, and Darius Butler from UConn. This will be interesting to see how this scenario turns out. The Trifecta was reportedly very high on Smith and Butler would be the 2nd option, but now I guess you can throw in Carey as well.
