Rams All-Time Leading WR Holt Asks for His Release

A new coach, a new look, and a hopefully a new attitude will be coming to St.Louis in 2009, and because of it, the teams best all-time wide out has asked to be able to continue playing elsewhere. Pro Bowl wide out Torry Holt has formally asked the Rams for his release according to the St.Louis Post-Dispatch.

The Rams know that he does not fit what the team wants to do, as they have already been looking for a trade for his services. The 32-year-old though has been tough to move, and there have been no takers so far on the trade market for Holt.

Holt is due a $1.25 million roster bonus on March 17th, so it’s unlikely he will be with the team beyond that date, meaning that if no one deals for Holt, the Rams probably will just release him. He was the Rams first round pick in their Super Bowl year of 1999, and has played in 158 games, making 869 catches for 12,660 yards and 74 touchdowns.
