Today’s Philadelphia Daily News is reporting that the team does have an interest in former Skins CB Shawn Springs, who has had the injury bug as of late and was let go by Washington after they signed DeAngelo Hall. Springs was in the house yesterday and word is that the Eagles have a great interest in signing him and shifting him to safety.
He spoke to the media in Philly on Wednesday and answered questions about coming to the team, which he did not commit to. He did say that he liked the system that Jim Johnson ran with the Eagles. “I always liked his system,” Springs said. “When I played for Washington, I was all over the field. I wasn’t a full-time safety, but we had a lot of packages where I was like a safety.”
He played in nine games last year only due to injury, and the 6-foot, 204-pound Springs recorded 36 tackles, one interception and seven passes defensed. The 12-year vet has 32 career interceptions and earned a Pro Bowl appearance following the 1998 season.
