For those that think the Broncos are going to dangle Pro Bowl QB Jay Culter on the market for a team that has an offer – forget it. The Broncos have come out and stated that they are NOT going to move Cutler, this despite the QB saying after he found out that he was being talked about in a deal over the weekend that he wanted to be moved.
“The Denver Broncos are not trading Jay Cutler. Period,” Broncos spokesman Patrick Smyth said.
Cutler was miffed after finding out that new coach Josh McDaniels was trying to land his old QB from the Pats, Matt Cassel, and that he would be moved to the Bucs. Another report said that Cutler wanted to be traded back in January when the team had a shift with Mike Shanahan being fired. Now, his wish will not be met according to the team.
“We are not trying to trade Jay Cutler,” Brian Xanders told Denver television station CBS4. “We will not trade Jay Cutler. He’s a Pro Bowl quarterback.”
So with that, the relationship between Cutler and McDaniels will have to be repaired. Not a good way to start a new era with the Broncos, but now the pressure is on McDaniels and Cutler to get on the same page.
