Broncos QB Cutler Wants to Be Traded After Teams Failed Attempt to Move Him Earlier

After the events of Saturday and learning that he was involved in trade rumors that could have meant a move to Tampa Bay, Broncos QB Jay Cutler has reportedly asked the team to trade him. “The relationship has been tarnished,” a source told ESPN about Cutler wanting to be moved. “I think it’s beyond repair. It’s like a knife to Jay’s heart. It will be hard for him to get past this.”

Reports came out that Cutler was peeved when he heard that the Broncos were dangling him in a deal that could have sent him to the Bucs, and Denver would have found a way to have gotten their hands on Matt Cassel from New England. Cassel ended up going to Kansas City along with LB Mike Vrabel for a second-round pick. The Lions were another team that had interest in Cassel.

ESPN is reporting that Cutler is still hopeful he will be traded because he feels betrayed by McDaniels since he wanted to start his Denver tenure with Cassel and not him. Being the emotional player that he is, this is going to be a touchy situation to try and get through for McDaniels, as he’s got to find a way to get Cutler to settle down and play for him, or his first year in Denver could quickly turn into a nightmare.

  1. Sure, it’s only natural to be upset, but hopefully his comments are just gut reaction. I really don’t think McDaniels was that dumb to inquire. A lot of damage control will be needed, but I certainly think this is a situation that can be rectified (a phat contract extension for Cutler-if he’s their guy!)

The Broncos set this up. The old coordinator is the new coach, and if you think 3 separate teams called with similar trade talks for a three team trade… c’mon, be serious…
