Titans Coach Fisher Insists the Team Wants QB Collins Back

Not that at this point is this really news, but Titans coach Jeff Fisher is still telling anyone that will listen that the team wants to bring back QB Kerry Collins before the 2009 NFL Free Agency signing period starts. Today in the Tennessean, Fisher said The Titans are also in negotiations to re-sign some of their other 13 free agents-to be, including quarterback Kerry Collins, receiver Brandon Jones, nickel back Vincent Fuller and cornerback/returner Chris Carr.

As far as Collins goes, a new deal is not really close, but Fisher again said that he wants Collins back and that Vince Young is “eventually” going to be the starter. “We don’t know what the market’s going to be,” Fisher said. “I believe that Kerry has every intention of coming back. And if he comes back, for all intents and purposes, he’s our starter, and Vince waits. If he doesn’t, then we’ll deal with that, but our interest right now is to try and get Kerry back.”

Collins is a player that has said a couple of times that he does not want to come back to the Titans as a backup, and that he feels he’s been able to do enough to play over Young, which was obvious since they were the #1 seed in the AFC before being upset by the Ravens in the playoffs. Collins and the Titans should be able to get something done before the 2009 NFL Free Agency signing period starts.
