Former Falcons Back Jamal Anderson Arrested


ESPN.com is reporting that former Falcons “Dirty-Bird” running back Jamal Lewis was arrested on Saturday night, and charged with felony possession-of-cocaine charge and possession-of-marijuana. He was booked into the Fulton County jail in Georgia, where he remains after being denied bond. He will have a hearing today.

Anderson was best known for his “Dirty-Bird” dance during the Falcons Super Bowl season of 1998 when he was a Pro Bowl back that led the team with a Falcons record 1,846 yards on an NFL record 410 carries. That season he and the Falcons lost to the Broncos and John Elway in the Super Bowl.

Anderson rushed for 5,336 yards in eight NFL seasons, all with the Falcons. He retired after tearing the ACL in his left knee. He tore the ACL in his right knee during the 1999 season. He was drafted out of Utah by the Falcons in the seventh round of the 1994 NFL draft, No. 201 overall.
