Browns Ask Eagles Permission to Talk to GM Tom Heckert

There is a new name popping up on the radar for the Cleveland Browns to talk to when it comes to being their next general manager, and that man is Eagles current GM Tom Heckert. Adam Schefter from reported today that the Browns have asked the Eagles permission to talk to Heckert.

Heckert does have some ties with the Browns, as his dad was a scout for them during his 20 years in teh NFL personnel ranks. The interview comes as it is appearing more and more that the possible union between Pats VP of player personnel Scott Pioli and the Browns appears to be over.

Word is Pioli and the Browns simply could not come to terms on a deal, and Pioli interviewed Monday with the Chiefs. The Browns also wanted to talk to Ravens director of pro personnel George Kokinis, but will have to wait till the Ravens playoffs are over to speak to him.
