Could Brian Billick and Mike Nolan Head to Detroit Together in 2009?

There has been a lot of talk about the Lions looking at former Ravens head coach Brian Billick to lead them in the 2009 season. If that is the case, the team may also get former 49’ers coach Mike Nolan. ProFootballTalk.com is reporting the following about a possible package deal with Billick going to a team with his former defensive coordinator in Nolan, being his new D-coordinator. Here is the report:

There’s talk in league circles that former Ravens coach Brian Billick and former 49ers coach Mike Nolan are quietly shopping themselves as a package deal for any team looking for a new coach. Presumably, Billick would be the head coach, and Nolan would serve as his defensive coordinator. As one source pointed out, they also likely would add to the mix Jags V.P. of player personnel James “Shack” Harris, who widely is expected to be headed for the door once the season ends.

This would be a most interesting situation for the Lions, as they could find themselves with a solid 1-2 punch of coaches that could right away get this team turned back in the right direction.
