Four days ago, the Titans lost their first game of the season to the Jets. That was one of the more tough games on the Titans 2008 schedule. In the same week, they played the easiest team in the league, the Detroit Lions. The Lions are 0-11 while the Titans are 10-1. The game was a blowout like any sane viewer would have predicted. Here?s what happened:
The Titans came into the game looking to establish the run against the Lions weak run defense. In the first quarter, Titans rookie running back Chris Johnson got 2 easy touchdowns. One of these exemplified his amazing speed as he torched the secondary of the Lions defense for a 58 yard TD run. Dave Ball had a defensive TD of his own when he intercepted a tipped pass.
Lendale White didn?t want Johnson to take all the spotlight, so he got two Touchdowns of his own in the second quarter. Rob Bironas had 4 field goals which were the final points added for the Titans. The score ended 47-10 as the Titans took control on both defense and offense for the majority of the game.
The Titans offense stole the show today. The running game was the priority and Collins came in and made accurate passes when needed. Vince Young even got some playing time towards the end of the game and looked very good in the pocket. Tennessee had 456 total offensive yards. The main contributors to this number were Johnson with 134 total, White with 106 total, and Collins had 139 total yards.
Next Sunday, the Titans have another expected win against the Cleveland Browns. Tennessee is very skilled in many different aspects of play. They can rely on any part of the team to bring home the win. The team has stayed healthy this entire season, and if they can continue to avoid major injuries, then the Titans have a great shot of making the AFC Championship of even the SuperBowl. Everyone have a great Thanksgiving!
