The Houston Texans road woes continued today as their four game unbeaten streak was halted by the Minnesota Vikings. This would push the Texans mark to 0-4 on the road this year ans will make their drive to the playoffs next to impossible if this trend continues. The Vikings on the other hand find themselves back in the hunt by pulling back to the .500 mark coming off their bye week.
The week of rest was what the Vikings defense needed as they were able to hold onto a 28-21 win with a dominating performance. They were able to force three turnovers and killed the Texans last minute drive with two sacks, one on a fourth down.
They were complemented by a decent day from Gus Frerotte who threw for three TD passes. Key to the Vikings defense was the silencing of Houston’s leading receiver Andre Johnson who only had 4 catches for 62 yards, but was able to convert one for a score.
The Texans also got some more bad news in the lose as their starter, Matt Schaub, to a knee injury at half time. As of right now the seriousness has not be disclosed, but Sage Rosenfels filled in admirably throwing for 224 yards with two TDs and a pick. The loss slipped the Texans to 3-5 and they will need to find a way to win on the road if the have any hopes of making the playoffs.
