Gridiron Roundtable: 8 Weeks into the Season, Who is Your NFL MVP?

Portis
David Wright – Jetsgab: Redskins Clinton Portis – Portis is a workhorse and is showing what he can still do without the old Gibbs running game.

David Quinn – Cowboysgab: Titans Kerry Collins
– This one’s easy after this weeks MNF game, Kerry Collins is having the best year of his career and showed that even if you stop their potent run game, the Titans can beat you on his arm. Obvious MVP at this point.

Al Gordon – NFLGridironGab: Saints Drew Brees – He has been without Colston, Shockey and put up pretty amazing numbers. Without Brees the Saints are a 2 win team at best. Especially now that Deuce is roided up, that offense will really be tested.

Jesse Rios – Texansgab: Redskins Clinton Portis – Portis up the Middle!!! At this point, the 6-2 WAS RB Clinton Portis has rushed for 944 yards, and 260 more yards than the next back behind him, AP.

Jason Etgen – Eaglesgab: Redskins Clinton Portis – He is the main reason the Redskins are able to pull out these wins. Take away his 100+ yards a game, and the Redskins are a 2-3 win team.

Jeff Roman – Ramsgab: Titans Albert Haynesworth – He’s the best player on the best defense on the best team in the league.

Ian Leslie – NFLGridironGab: Redskins Clinton Portis – His running has opened things up in the passing game for Jason Campbell, who is having a career year, and he has rushed for 120+ yards in 5 straight games. Not to mention, the surprising Redskins have the third best record in the NFL, while playing in its toughest conference.

Russ Loede – Bearsgab: Eagles Brian Westbrook – The Eagles are clearly a different team without him. When on the field he’s a touchdown-maker, yards-machine, and makes the Philly offense one of the best offenses not only in the NFC, but in the NFL. Westbrook also does the dirty work as a superb blocker and tough runner in between the tackles and down near the goal line. Considered as the most versatile player, undoubtedly making his presence and impact second to none when looking at all he does for his team.

Jeff Sack – Patriotsgab: Redskins Clinton Portis – He showed last season he was on the road to recovery, already has 944 rushing yards in eight games. He has been a key to Washington having that 6-2 mark.

Eric Palmer – Saintsgab: Saints Drew Brees – He consistently performs at a high level and his team depends on him having an outstanding game each week.

Kevin Lissow – Billsgab: Saints Drew Brees – With Manning having a tough year and Brady being injured he is the only sure option as a fantasy QB this season.

Matt Loede – NFLGridirongab: Redskins Clinton Portis
– He’s the NFL leading rusher and the Skins wouldn’t be near where they would be without him.

Matt Jergensen – Ravensgab: Drew Brees
– The guy is on pace to shatter Dan Marino’s single season passing record. He’s been doing it with injuries to his key receivers, as long as you can catch a ball you can play with Brees. You might think San Diego would be kicking themselves, yet they do have a pretty good quarterback too.

Results:
Clinton Portis 6 Votes
Drew Brees 4 Votes
Kerry Collins, Brian Westbrook and Albert Haynesworth all with one vote
