Titans Win Tough 13-10 Battle in Baltimore to Move to 5-0

This week, the Titans and the Ravens renewed their rivalry in Baltimore. The 2-1 Ravens hosted the undefeated 4-0 Titans. Both teams defenses are their strength and the defenders were the ones who made the plays in this game. Another big factor that decided the outcome in today’s game was the penalties. There were a total of 21 penalties. The Ravens committed 11 for 91 yards while the Titans lost 78 yards due to penalties.

The Titans first drive looked promising as Collins led his team down the field closer and closer to the red zone. However the opening drive ended when Collins threw an interception. The Ravens marched down the field easily; primarily due to the 3 yellow flags the Titans received. Baltimore added 3 points to take the lead.

The following drive for the Titans ended with another interception by Collins. Things were looking bleak as Tennessee struggled against the Raven’s defense. Things remained back and forth for the next ten minutes until Titans defensive player Michael Griffin got his fourth interception of the year. The Titans tied the game up in 4 plays with a field goal by Rob Bironas. The score remained the same until halftime.

Things looked very bad for the Titans on the Ravens first drive of the second half. The Ravens looked perfect as they drew a lot of penalties from the Titans. Tennessee got an unnecessary roughness, personal foul, and encroachment foul on them. The errors led to a Baltimore touchdown and an angered Titans defense. Albert Haynesworth has been known for losing his temper in the past, and he lost it again at the end of that drive. After the extra point, Haynesworth got an unnecessary roughness call.

Titans Coach Jeff Fisher collected the entire defense on the sideline and gave them a motivational speech. This speech must have worked, because Tennessee didn’t give up any more points for the rest of the game. The Titans offense worked with great field position for the rest of the game. They added a field goal and then a touchdown to take the lead. The Ravens had won more shot to win the game with a two-minute drive. But on the second play of their final drive Titans CB Nick Harper intercepted the ball and gave the Titans their fifth win of the season.

The Titans move to 5-0 while the Ravens slip to 2-2. The Titans get to rest next week as they get their bye. They will be back in Nashville on October 19th to battle the Kansas City Chiefs. Although the win wasn?t a pretty won, the Titans have continued to get the job the done and right now are the best team in the entire NFL.
