The Packers are not only hurting from two straight losses, but their upstart QB, Aaron Rodgers is hurting as well. Packers coach Mike McCarthy said today at his press conference that Rodgers has a sprained shoulder. The coach said that Rodgers will rehad today and tomorrow. The key will come on Wednesday, as the coaches will watch how Rodgers throws, and how he comes out of it on Thrusday.
Needless to say, the team will likely have to get unknown QB Matt Flynn ready to play Sunday at home vs Atlanta. McCarthy did say that there was some good news on Rodgers, and that he does not have any major structural damage in the arm. When it comes to Rodgers feelings about playing Sunday: “Pretty positive. He wants to play. … His mindset’s strong, very positive,” the coach said.
While there was some talk about Rodgers being fragile, for the Packers sake, let’s hope that this is not something long term, and that he’ll be able to play on Sunday, or at the worst, be able to play the following week vs the Seahawks on the road. No doubt that Packer faithful will hold their breath if Rodgers is going to miss some time, as no one knows what Flynn can or can’t do.
