Looks like Ed Hochuli is at it again. The ref, whose been at the center of the circus of that bad no-call two weeks ago in the San Diego-Denver game, made yet another questionable call today while on hand calling the Atlanta-Carolina game at Bank of America Stadium.
Hochuli called a roughing-the-passer call on the Panthers Julius Peppers in the first quarter against Matt Ryan. The play ended up being a pick by the Panthers that went the other way for a score. It was of course wiped out by Hochuli’s call, and the ball was given back to the Falcons.
Hochuli said that Peppers made a helmet-to-helmet hit on Ryan, and on replay it was rather clear that Peppers hit Ryan first with his shoulder, and the call should have never been made. It’s pretty obvious at this point that the league had better take some sort of action against Hochuli and sit him down – before another team gets screwed out of a victory.
