The back and forth saga between Raiders coach Lane Kiffin and owner Al Davis is over, as reports from two sources say that the coach has been informed that he will be fired as early as Monday. The Raiders lost a tough game in Buffalo on Sunday 24-23, and Fox Sports’ Jay Glazer is reporting that Davis is placing the blame of that loss squarely on the shoulders of Kiffin.
Glazer says that Davis told his “underlings” that the move to can Kiffin, who’s been on the hot seat since the end of the last season, will come on Monday. As far as who will take over for Kiffin, it looks as if it will either be defensive coordinator Rob Ryan, who is a Davis guy, or WR coach James Lofton, who many thought was on stand-by for the job when he was hired.
Last week on Sunday a story broke that Davis was on the verge of firing Kiffin, but then the Raiders went out and won in KC 23-8, in a place where they have not had much success over the years. The Raiders had a great shot of being 2-1 Sunday, as they had a 9-point lead in the 4th quarter over the Bills, before they rallied for 10 points in the one-point loss.
