Texans Eyeing Rice Stadium as a Possible Venue for October 5th Game

It appears that the Texans may have to move their next home game to Rice Stadium.  A report today says that owner Bob McNair has already discussed the team moving their October 5th game vs the Colts to the stadium if repairs cannot be made to Reliant Stadium.  The stadium was damaged by Hurrican Ike over the weekend.

The team already canned its past weekends game vs the Ravens at home.  They will make that game up on November 9th.  “We would have to talk to them at Rice, but certainly it’s a large enough stadium that it is a possibility,” McNair said Tuesday.  Rice Stadium holds about 47,000 as is, but with the moving of tarps in the end zone could make the seating up to 70,000.

Rice Stadium opened in 1950 and hosted the Super Bowl in 1974.
