Handicapper Special for the 1pm Games of Week 2

The betting lines of week 2 are drastically different than in week 1. Surely, some of these teams are either over or under-valued based on just one performance. However, some teams aren’t being penalized enough for poor starts. Detroit’s defense looked absolutely horrible. The Raiders still only have one legitimate team strength…the rushing attack.

Here are my 1pm picks:

1) Chiefs -3.5 at KC
The Chiefs will want revenge for losing at Arrowhead last season to the hated Raiders. While I see both teams suffering from most of the same weaknesses as last season, I believe the Chiefs have done more than the Raiders to improve in the offseason along both sides of the line of scrimmage. I also don’t like Raiders QB Russell on the road in a hostel environment as a starter until he gains more experience in the league.

2) Packers -3 at Detroit
It’s probably true that the Falcons are an underrated team, It’s also probably true that the Lions are a better team at home. But, man that defense was horrible last week. With a new scheme and new starters at several positions, they might not be ready for Green Bay’s exceptional offense. I’m concerned about the health of starting CB Woodson against a dangerous Detroit passing attack, but the Packers are clearly the better football team and only have to cover 3 points.
