The Aaron Rodgers era in Green Bay got off to a rousing start Monday night, as the Packers topped the Vikings 24-19. This week he and the Packers take their 1-0 mark on the road to Ford Field to take on a Lions team that got a taste of what new Falcons RB Michael Turner was all about last week in a 34-14 setback.
Detroit was stunned at how bad they played vs Atlanta, and hope to come out this week with the home crowd (hopefully) on their side and put on a much better show. The team came close to having this game blacked out, but had a local business buy up the remaning tickets at the last minute.
Look for Jon Kitna to try and re-establish the passing game that was so good in the preseason. The team is already making changes in the lineup to try and make sure that Kitna has more time to throw, something he didn’t have a whole lot of last week vs the Falcons. Detroit needs to take the pressure off the defense by getting some early points and Kitna is the key to that.
While the Pack won Monday, they are the first ones to admit they were sloppy and have a lot of work to do in their game. They left a lot of points on the field, and while the Lions are a team that looks like they are headed for another long season, Green Bay wants to shore up their game.
Look for the Pack to use a lot of Ryan Grant and for Rodgers to continue to make strides. The Lions will play better, and make it a game, but in the end, will make another mistake somewhere that will push them to 0-2.
