Rookies Shine in Week One

With all the talk about the pressures of Joe Flacco and Matt Ryan, they actually played outstanding providing wins for their respective teams. Ryan was 9/13 for 161 yards and 1 TD (although Michael Turner was the real star of that game, rushing for 220 yards on 22 carries and 2 scores). Joe Flacco was also impressive, throwing for 129 yards and 15 completions.

Chris Johnson, the Titans running back from East Carolina, might have had the best day of all the rooks. Johnson rushed for 93 yards on 15 carries, and added 34 yards in the air with a score. Johnson has been electrifying in preseason, and it continued into the regular season. Eagles rookie wide receiver DeSean Jackson had a great day, hauling in 6 catches for 106 yards, while also adding 97 yards in punt returns. He will soon be Donovan McNabb’s favorite target.

It seems like the rookies will contribute to another great NFL season.

Where’s Chicago BEAR Rookie RB Matt Forte?

    50-Yard TD – 100 yards by half!

By the way, I am a big fan of both DeSean Jackson & Chris Johnson

Unfortunately, I wrote the story before the Sunday nighter, Matt Forte did look impressive.

Last Nite Eddie Royal put on a SHOW!

Both Raider corners are highly regarded as top cover men in the NFL – they got SCHOOLED!

ROYAL is the most exciting route-runner I’ve ever seen – the best in the NFL? I say SO!

Blazing quick, shifty, and elusive! Great hands – he is going to be something special.

Hopefully Devin Hester watches some game film and takes notes on how Royal runs his routes and gets tremendous separation. He is unguardable!

Cutler to Royal & Brandon “I’m the best WR in the NFL” Marshall – fun offense to watch in Denver with Shannahan’s play calling expertise!

Speaking of Jay Cutler – He is a Top 5 QB based on talent, in terms of ability. Cutler is up there with the 2nd level of elite signal callers! Right around Big Ben, Donovan McNabb, and Brees – very IMPRESSIVE!
