Yesterday, I reported about San Diego Chargers linebacker Shawne Merriman getting his knee examined by Dr. James Andrews after experiencing lingering pain; according to Merriman, he said on Thursday night that he has ligament damage and is weighing his options. In an email to the North County Times, Merriman stated that he had a loose ligament and is waiting for more information before proceeding. Chargers head coach Norv Turner is hoping that Merriman will be healthy enough to play when the team has their regular season opener September against the Carolina Panthers.
