A Quick Look at Predicted Divison Winners for 2008

Romo

Based on power rankings and so far in training camps and preseason, I have come up with my predictions for teams who will win their divisions this coming regular season. And here they are:

AFC North

Pittsburgh Steelers – Although the Ravens have made some upgrades, like adding Neal, Pittsburgh should seal the deal with clinching the division. I see the Browns actually getting in to the playoffs as well.

AFC South

Indianapolis Colts – The Colts are just too consistent to go with the Titans or Jaguars. Both are strong teams but sometimes they just can’t get it done. Titans have a real strong chance with Chris Johnson in the backfield but most likely a year or two down the road will it amount to a playoff berth.

AFC East

New England Patriots – Still the dominating force in the AFC East, the Jets will be better this year with Favre and might even get the Wild Card, but Pats are still on top in the East.

AFC West

San Diego Chargers – Chargers have the West all wrapped up, but the Broncos should do better this year possibly giving the Chargers a run for their money. But in the end I see San Diego in the playoffs.

NFC North

Minnesota Vikings – With Favre gone and Green Bay is left with 0 quarterbacks with regular season starts under their belt, Packers don’t look to repeat their division win from last season. Vikings look to strong to pass up, with their new bolstered defense and AP running from the backfield make them my choice.

NFC South

New Orleans Saints – Saints looked real strong in the preseason, especially with Robert Meachem back in the game. Saints should take their division easily and return to their playoff form of 2 years ago.

NFC East

Dallas Cowboys – This is the hardest division because anyone can potentially take over the East in the NFC. Cowboys are defending champs, still have all their weapons, but the Eagles are very strong and the Redskins have returned to a winning team after last year’s playoff run. And there’s the Giants, reigning Super Bowl champs but not expected to repeat, but that’s the same doubts everyone had that they could win it all in the first place. I take the Cowboys for clinching the division but it’s going to be one heated race.

NFC West

Seattle Seahawks – Still the strongest in the division by far, but I do see the Rams winning more games this season. They should go at least .500 and the Cardinals are expected to repeat last seasons efforts or more. 49ers most likely will repeat last year as well.
